Tattoo Assassins (US prototype)

Arcade 1994 Data East Pinball Fighter Versus
Nine Tattooed Assassins are ordered by Mullah Abba to defeat Koldan and his minions in this unreleased one-on-one beat-em-up. Tattoo Assassins is little more than a flawed beat-em-up that was originally intended to cash in on the massive success of Midway's superior "Mortal Kombat" series.

Bugs:
- tattass, tattassa: Speed during fight is too slow. Tafoid (ID 03179)

WIP:
- 0.143u6: R. Belmont moved DECO BSMT2000 sound board out to a device shared between Whitestar driver and Tattoo Assassins. Changed M6809 CPU2 clock speed to 1789790 Hz and region audiocpu to soundcpu.
- 0.141u4: David Haywood converted Tattoo Assassins to use DECO16IC, fixing some corrupt graphics in Tattoo Assassins (which have been there since it was first added). Changed ARM CPU1 clock speed to 28Hz.
- 0.141u1: Replaced BSMT2000 HLE emulator with emulation of the original TMS32015 [Dr. Decapitator, Andrew Gardner, Quench, Guru, Ernesto Corvi, Peter Grounds, Lord Nightmare, Aaron Giles]. Added TMS32015 (24MHz) CPU3 and bsmt2000.bin rom.
- 0.136: Added eeprom-tattass.bin EEPROM.
- 0.131u2: Fabio Priuli fixed Tattoo Assassins regression from map merging.
- 0.111u2: Aaron Giles improved cycle timings in the ARM CPU core. Altered the DECO32 CPU clocks to be more realistic. Changed ARM CPU1 clock speed to 7MHz.
- 0.103u1: Bryan McPhail and Pierpaolo Prazzoli fixed the DECO 32 driver. Some graphics fixes for Tattoo Assassins.
- 0.67: Bryan McPhail added Tattoo Assassins (US Prototype) (Data East Pinball 1994) and clone (Asia Prototype).
- 25th March 2003: David Haywood fixed the sounds in Tattoo Assassins. Bryan McPhail fixed the sound board reset in Tattoo Assassins.
- 24th March 2003: Bryan McPhail sent in a major update to the Deco32 driver, making Dragon Gun playable, Locked 'n Loaded almost playable and Tattoo Assassins fully playable with graphics, thanks to Stiletto for tracking down a working boardset of this ultra rare game.
- 0.58: Bryan McPhail added Tattoo Assassins (Prototype) (Testdriver). ARM CPU emulation [Bryan McPhail, Phil Stroffolino]. Tattoo Assassins is a prototype, it is thought only 25 test units were manufactured and distributed to test arcades before the game was recalled. The current romset includes only the EPROMs, not the soldered mask roms, therefore there are no graphics. TA is the only game developed by Data East Pinball in USA, rather than Data East Corporation in Japan. Here is the story of the dumped romset, from mowerman@erols.com: "The game was Demoed on the East Coast by State Sales in Baltimore just before the plug was pulled. Next auction there was a brand new TA cabinet, 25" dedicated for sale, no CPUboard but did have a sound board, bid didn't meet reserve (about $600). The op ran into an ex employee of DE that was absorbed by Sega, he knew of about 10 boards in storage for shipment back to Sega Japan, cash talks & we scored a boardset. Slapped the boardset in the cabinet & he sold the game to a big east coast truck stop operator who saw the machine & had to have it. I heard latter that it showed up at auction on the East coast 2 more times". Data East Pinball only was absorbed by Sega, not Data East Corporation, and the boards were probably going to DE, rather than Sega. Tattoo Assassins uses DE Pinball soundboard 520-5077-00 R.
